Nick Hoare
Nick Hoare

Nick Hoare took over the running of the estate from his father Henry in 1997. Initially he did this in parallel with his career designing jet engines for Rolls-Royce in Bristol. He left Rolls-Royce and moved full time to the estate in 2001, with his wife Sara and two children. Sara is an ex chartered accountant and international tax specialist. Their children went to local Gillingham School.

From the outset, Nick and Sara have tried to use the resources of the estate to maintain a strong local community. Cottages are let to full time local residents (no week-enders). We encourage the use of the woods by clubs and schools for all sorts of activities. These include cycling, running and orienteering, a field archery event, sponsored rides, and car and motor cycle rallies.

In 2005 Nick and Sara opened Stourhead Farm Shop in partnership with local farmers Steve and Louise Harris. In 2015/16 they built four houses for affordable rent in Gasper.
